How the game went
Swinney had taken over after Tommy Bowden resigned in October. The win was his fourth as interim coach and made Clemson bowl eligible, and his interim tag was removed after the game.
It was Clemson’s second straight win in the series. South Carolina finished 7-6 after losing to Iowa in the Outback Bowl.
