Decisive moment
Mitch Jeter's 35-yard field goal put South Carolina ahead 31-30 with about 11 minutes left. Clemson's final hope ended when Antonio Williams fumbled a punt return with just over two minutes remaining and Nick Emmanwori recovered for the Gamecocks.

Clemson led 14-0 in the first quarter, helped by Jeremiah Trotter Jr.’s 35-yard interception return for a touchdown, and still led 30-21 midway through the third quarter after Will Shipley’s 11-yard touchdown run.

The loss ended Clemson’s seven-game winning streak in the series and its 40-game home winning streak dating to 2016. It came one week after South Carolina’s 63-38 win over Tennessee.
