The 2023 Clemson-South Carolina Game
16 - 7 Clemson
Kicker Jonathan Weitz was pivotal for Clemson, making three field goals from 50, 49, and 42 yards. The Tigers’ defense played a crucial role, limiting South Carolina to just 169 total yards and forcing two turnovers in the first two plays of the game (an interception and a fumble return for a touchdown, both by freshman safety Khalil Barnes), which set the tone early. Despite efforts by South Carolina’s quarterback Spencer Rattler, who completed 16 of 32 passes for 112 yards, the Gamecocks’ offense struggled to gain much traction against the Clemson’s defense. This victory marked Clemson’s eighth win in their last nine meetings with South Carolina, bringing their all-time series lead in the rivalry to 73-43-4.
